Commuters Opting for Public Transit Receive Boost with Free Parking Spaces Expansion
The Réseau express métropolitain (REM) has recently made a significant announcement that will surely entice drivers to consider switching to public transit. Over 1,000 parking spaces across various stations in the Greater Montreal area are now being offered for free, providing added convenience for riders.
In an effort to better cater to the changing habits and preferences of commuters, the light-rail network has made adjustments to its parking policies. For instance, approximately 500 parking spots at stations such as Bois-Franc, Sunnybrooke, Pierrefonds-Roxboro, and Sainte-Dorothée have been transformed into free parking spaces in recent days.
Riders utilizing the Brossard station can look forward to gaining access to an additional 500 free parking spots starting from September 1st, while those using the Grand-Moulin station will benefit from an extra 57 parking spaces in the future.
Moreover, as of September 3rd, the Panama station will offer 360 free parking spaces along with 75 paid parking spaces to accommodate various needs. The REM has also discontinued the need for advance daily parking reservations, allowing commuters to make same-day reservations directly at the parking lot.
It is important to note that monthly parking pass options will continue to be available for riders who prefer this convenient parking solution.
