A 13-year-old was injured in a collision while riding an electric scooter in Saint-Lambert, Quebec on Friday afternoon. The incident occurred near the intersection of Dauphiné Street and Simard Boulevard, prompting a quick response from the police.
The Service de police de l’agglomération de Longueuil (SPAL) reported that the teenager collided with a vehicle driver around 3:30 p.m. on August 28. Fortunately, the injured teenager was promptly taken to the hospital for medical attention, with authorities confirming that their life was not at risk.
Following the accident, normal traffic flow resumed in the area as the scene was cleared. Investigations by the police indicate that neither alcohol nor speeding played a role in the collision.
As a precautionary measure, the SPAL emphasized the legal age requirement of at least 14 years old to operate an electric scooter. They also offered safety advice for electric-scooter users, urging them to wear helmets, follow road rules, be cautious at intersections and driveways, and avoid distractions like using a cellphone.
