Under the theme “Heritage of Generations,” the festival warmly invites Montrealers and visitors alike to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of Ukrainian traditions. Gregory Bedik, the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Canadian Congress Quebec, expressed his delight, saying, “Today is a day of joy. With an additional 33,000 Ukrainians coming to Montreal, nearly all of them are expected to grace the festival with their presence.”
For young Ukrainian Canadians, the festival serves as a vital platform to uphold their cultural roots and linguistic heritage. Drea Radovenchyk from CYM Canada emphasized the importance of connecting the younger generation to their Ukrainian identity through educational initiatives, stating, “We aim to bridge the gap between tradition, culture, and language for the children and youth who will shape the future. Join us every Saturday for lessons on Ukraine.”
