Authorities in Quebec responded to a potential drowning incident in Saint-Nazaire-de-Dorchester on Sunday. The incident involved a 70-year-old man who reportedly fell into a private lake while mowing his lawn near 6e Rang East at 1:30 p.m. Tragically, he was found unconscious in the water and later pronounced dead at the hospital by firefighters who rescued him. The Sûreté du Québec is currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to recent data from the Société de sauvetage du Québec, there have been 58 suspected unofficial drownings recorded as of Aug. 31, an increase from 54 in 2025.
