A tragic accident in Scarborough led to one fatality and three injuries as a 39-year-old man now faces serious charges, including impaired driving causing death.
The incident occurred on May 21 at around 10 p.m. at the intersection of Sheppard Avenue East and Vandorf Street, where a collision involving a silver Nissan Altima and a white Volkswagen Jetta took place.
Reports indicate that the Nissan, heading northbound on Sheppard Avenue East, veered across the center line and collided head-on with the Jetta. The consequences were devastating, with the male driver of the Nissan sustaining life-threatening injuries, and his 42-year-old male passenger tragically losing his life.
The female driver of the Jetta, aged 32, and her 49-year-old male passenger were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.
William Howard Garrett, a 39-year-old resident of Pickering, was apprehended on Tuesday in connection with the incident. He now faces charges that include impaired driving causing death and dangerous operation of a vehicle resulting in both death and bodily harm.
Garrett is set to appear in court on Oct. 29 to address these grave allegations.
