This Labour Day weekend, Chinatown in Montreal is set to transform into a bustling taste of Hong Kong as the highly anticipated Asian Night Market makes its return to Saint-Laurent Boulevard. Presented by Asie en Fête in collaboration with the Ville-Marie borough and local Chinatown merchants, this vibrant event promises an unforgettable experience for all.
Running from Thursday to Monday at the iconic 1111 Saint-Laurent Boulevard, this five-day celebration marks the grand finale of the season’s night markets, boasting an extended schedule that goes beyond the standard weekend format. The primary aim of the event is not only to showcase a diverse array of Asian street food and entertainment but also to draw more visitors to Chinatown, fostering support for the local businesses that call the area home.
Step into the lively atmosphere reminiscent of a bustling Hong Kong night market, complete with the allure of red neon lights, plastic stools, and an enticing array of delicacies such as dumplings, grilled skewers, and other street food delights available well into the evening. Additionally, a bar will be on hand to offer refreshing beverages amidst the culinary delights.
Beyond the delectable food offerings, attendees can engage in free mahjong games throughout the event, with tables open on a first-come, first-served basis. A highlight of the program includes an outdoor screening of a classic Hong Kong film on Saturday evening, adding a touch of cinematic flair to the festivities.
The market kicks off on Friday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and transitions to daytime hours over the weekend, welcoming guests on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 10 p.m. The event culminates on Labour Day Monday, operating from noon to 9 p.m., offering ample opportunities for visitors to explore and savor the cultural richness of the area.
