Five young individuals, with the youngest being only 13 years old, are now facing legal repercussions after allegedly attacking police officers at Finch West station in Toronto.
According to Toronto authorities, the incident unfolded on October 7 when they responded to a call for help from TTC Constables. The youths had reportedly tried to gain unauthorized access to the station by tampering with the entrance gates.
During the intervention, police moved to detain one of the youths for the physical assault of an officer. However, the situation escalated when three other youths encircled the officers and engaged in further assaults in an attempt to prevent the arrest.
Law enforcement officials have brought charges against a 13-year-old, a 14-year-old, and a 15-year-old for the offenses of assaulting and obstructing peace officers. Additionally, another 14-year-old and a 15-year-old are facing charges of obstructing a peace officer.
Due to legal regulations under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identities of the accused individuals are protected. The youths are slated to appear in court on November 4 to address the allegations.
