Burger Heaven’s Political Burgers: Can they Predict Election Outcomes?
Burger Heaven, a beloved eatery in New Westminster, has a quirky tradition that has caught the attention of locals and politicos alike. As the provincial election draws near, patrons can participate in the “Bun-Official Burger Poll” by ordering burgers that represent different political parties.
According to Chris Geib, the restaurant’s general manager, the NDP and Conservatives are currently in a tight race, with customers showing their support through their burger choices. The NDP burger features provolone cheese and onions, symbolizing unions, while the Conservative burger is topped with blue cheese, representing the party’s color. The Greens, with a lettuce-wrapped burger, are trailing behind.
The unique initiative, which has been a tradition for 35 years, allows customers to engage in a lighthearted way with the political process. Geib mentioned that the predictions from the burger poll surprisingly aligned with the outcome of the 2025 federal election.
Notable figures like Mark Carney and BC NDP Leader David Eby have participated in the Bun-Official Burger Poll in the past, adding to the fun and excitement surrounding the event. As the provincial election day approaches, the excitement and anticipation are palpable, with the Burger Heaven team eagerly awaiting to see if their burger poll once again predicts the election results accurately.
If you want to cast your “vote” through a burger, head over to Burger Heaven at 77 10th Street in New Westminster before October 23 and join in on the tasty political predictions.
