Mission RCMP Uncover Hidden Arsenal in Routine Traffic Stop

Mission Police seize illegal guns from car during traffic stop

In a recent incident, Mission Police made a significant discovery when officers from the Crime Reduction Unit conducted a routine traffic stop on a suspicious car. The stop, which took place on Oct. 14, along Lougheed Highway near Wren Street, led to the uncovering of a large cache of illegal guns.

The car, occupied by two young men in their early 20s from the Cariboo area, raised suspicions when they were unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for their presence in Mission or their intended destination. Adding to the intrigue was a mysterious duffel bag in the backseat, the contents of which the men claimed ignorance about.

Upon further investigation, officers found the duffel bag packed with illegal guns and other potentially stolen items, hinting at a possible connection to a break and enter incident. The seized items were confiscated by the police.

Following the discovery, both individuals were taken into custody for firearms-related offenses, although they have since been released pending further investigation. The authorities are urging anyone with information about the seized guns or their origins to contact Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161 and reference file #2026-13571.
