“Highway Horror: Suspect Nabbed in Deadly Hit-and-Run Tragedy on Highway 20”

A man has been apprehended by the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) in connection with a tragic incident that involved a fatal collision and a subsequent hit-and-run on Highway 20 near Saint-Hyacinthe, in Montérégie. The 39-year-old suspect was arrested by the Boucherville major crime investigation unit in Outaouais, as announced in a press release on Friday morning.

The SQ has stated that the man, currently in custody, may face charges related to hit-and-run causing death and bodily harm. His appearance at the Saint-Hyacinthe courthouse via videoconference was scheduled for Friday.

The SQ credited the cooperation of truck drivers and merchants for providing crucial information that led to the arrest of the suspect. The collaboration proved instrumental in resolving the case stemming from the tragic accident on Tuesday, which resulted in one fatality and left three others with severe injuries.

The collision occurred early in the morning around 6:30 a.m. when a car was struck by the trailer of a truck merging onto the highway.
