An individual with a history of violence was apprehended and is now facing charges following an altercation with a Metro Vancouver Transit Police officer.
The incident took place outside Waterfront Station at around 5:30 p.m. when the officer approached Shakwan David Kelly, 30, regarding his apparent drug use in public.
During the encounter, Kelly reportedly attacked the officer by charging at him and striking him on the face and body, despite the officer’s attempt to use a Conducted Energy Weapon which had no effect.
After the assault, Kelly attempted to flee the scene but was quickly captured nearby.
