Major Weekend Shutdown: Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge Closure Set to Disrupt Traffic Flow!

The upcoming weekend will see a complete closure of the île-aux-Tourtes bridge for maintenance, as announced by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility on Monday. From Friday, Sept.12, at 11:59 p.m., to Monday, Sept. 15, at 5 a.m., the bridge will be inaccessible to traffic.

This closure is necessary for reconfiguration work to prepare for the opening of the fifth lane on Sept. 15. Once operational, dynamic traffic management will be reinstated, providing three out of five lanes for peak traffic flow.

To cope with the bridge closure, the public is advised to utilize public transportation and take advantage of the available mitigation measures. Tolls on both directions of Highway 30 will be suspended to offer an alternative route. Road users in the area are urged to plan for additional travel time.

Starting Sept. 15, three lanes will be allocated toward Montreal from midnight to 10 a.m. on weekdays, and towards Vaudreuil-Dorion from noon to 10 p.m. on weekdays, weekends, and holidays. The entrance from Rue des Pins to Highway 40 westbound will also reopen on Sept. 15.

In a related move, as of Oct. 1, the discount on 10-trip tickets, All Modes ABC, for public transit users will no longer be available. Fares will align with the ARTM fare schedule, with the regular fare set at $60.25 and the reduced fare at $40.25.

Temporary parking lots near the Vaudreuil station will be gradually phased out, except for the one on Boileau Street, which will remain accessible until Dec. 31, 2025. Additional mitigation measures, such as more train departures on Line 11 Vaudreuil/Hudson and increased bus services in the La Presqu’Île sector, will also continue.
