Tragic Incident: Mother Dies, Child Airlifted Following Family Hit by Pickup Truck in Guelph

Authorities in Guelph are currently conducting an investigation following a tragic incident that resulted in the death of a woman and left her young daughter airlifted to the hospital after a pickup truck struck their family of three last week.

The heartbreaking event unfolded at the intersection of Paisley Road and Alma Street North on the evening of Sept. 19. According to reports, a 38-year-old woman and her husband were walking with their three-year-old daughter in a stroller when they were hit by a pickup truck while crossing at the designated crosswalk.

Following the collision, emergency responders swiftly arrived on the scene and swiftly transported all three family members to Guelph General Hospital. Unfortunately, the woman succumbed to her injuries, while her husband was treated for minor injuries and subsequently released. Their daughter, on the other hand, was airlifted to a trauma center in Hamilton as a precautionary measure but was thankfully discharged later that same evening.

The driver of the pickup truck, identified as a 19-year-old man from Northern Ontario, remained at the location of the incident and reportedly did not sustain any physical injuries.
