Police Shooting in Montreal Suburb Turns Fatal: One Dead

Quebec’s Independent Police Watchdog Reports Fatality in Montreal Police Shooting Incident

Quebec’s independent police watchdog has announced the unfortunate death of an individual following a police shooting on Montreal’s South Shore.

The incident unfolded when Longueuil police responded to a 911 call alerting them to a group of armed individuals in a public area just before 3 p.m. on a Sunday. Upon arriving at the location, officers engaged with the group, resulting in one person being struck by police gunfire.

Despite the officers administering first aid until paramedics arrived, the individual did not survive and was pronounced dead in the hospital.

The independent police watchdog is conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, as is protocol in cases where individuals are harmed or killed by law enforcement.

Longueuil police have assured their full cooperation with the watchdog’s investigation and have stated that they will refrain from providing further comments on the matter.
