“Community Rallies in Protest After 15-Year-Old Tragically Killed by Police in Montreal’s South Shore”

Community Unites for Vigil in Memory of Nooran Rezayi
The South Shore community in Montreal is uniting this weekend to honor the memory of 15-year-old Nooran Rezayi, who tragically lost his life during a police intervention in Longueuil. The Association de la Sépulture Musulmane au Québec (ASMQ), with the family’s permission and in collaboration with authorities, is organizing one of the memorials.

The vigil, scheduled for September 27 at 2 p.m. at Parc de Mille Fleur in Longueuil, aims to be a moment of reflection, solidarity, and support for Nooran’s grieving family. Emotions of shock and anger are palpable within the entire community, as they grapple with the loss of a young life at the hands of law enforcement.

Both of Nooran’s parents will be present at the vigil to honor their son and demand justice for the tragic incident. Attendees are encouraged to bring a white flower as a symbol of peace and unity during this somber occasion.

In addition, a peaceful demonstration is planned for Sunday at 3 p.m., starting from Gérard-Fillion School. Organizers are urging people from all walks of life to come together and denounce police violence while advocating for justice, equality, and respect for human rights. Let us raise our voices collectively in remembrance of Nooran Rezayi and to stand against injustice.
