“Alert: B.C. Girl Guides Issue Urgent Warning Against Rising Online Scams Targeting Members”

With the highly anticipated Girl Guide Cookie season just around the corner, there’s a sweet buzz in the air. However, amidst the excitement, the B.C. Girl Guides are cautioning the public about online scammers.

Diamond Isinger, the provincial media spokesperson for Girl Guides of Canada, recently raised the alarm about fraudulent activities attempting to exploit the Girl Guides’ reputable brand. These scams have been cropping up on platforms like community buy and sell groups on social media, particularly on Facebook.

According to Isinger, there have been reports of individuals falsely claiming to have Girl Guide cookies in their possession, soliciting online payments from unsuspecting supporters without any intention of delivering the goods. This deceitful tactic not only tarnishes the organization’s image but also preys on the generosity of those looking to purchase the beloved cookies.

To safeguard against falling victim to such scams, Isinger emphasizes the importance of acquiring cookie boxes from trusted sources, such as known Girl Guides or official public selling locations. By ensuring transactions are made with reputable individuals, supporters can continue to contribute to empowering girls in their community.

In the event of encountering a scam, Isinger advises reporting the incident to the police via the non-emergency line to help prevent further fraudulent activities.
