Projet Montréal Unveils Bold Plan to Revitalize Downtown: More Foot Traffic Ahead!

Projet Montréal Aims to Revitalize Downtown Montreal

Projet Montréal has big plans to breathe new life into downtown Montreal if they emerge victorious in the upcoming municipal election. Luc Rabouin, the party’s leader, emphasized the significance of the downtown core as the vibrant hub of the city, uniting residents, workers, and visitors alike.

The party’s vision extends beyond the ongoing revitalization efforts on Sainte-Catherine Street West, with a commitment to further enhance and revitalize additional spaces. Recognizing the challenges faced by the downtown core in recent years, Projet Montréal proposes doubling the city budget allocation for the Downtown Strategy from $10 million to $20 million.

This increased funding is intended to ramp up events and activities in public spaces and the underground city, as well as facilitate better maintenance of streets and sidewalks. Projet Montréal also plans to bolster cleaning operations to ensure high-traffic areas remain well-maintained.

In a bid to minimize disruptions caused by construction projects, the party pledges to implement centralized construction management, reduce the presence of orange cones on streets, and introduce more user-friendly signage in construction zones.

Beyond the summer festival season, Projet Montréal aims to expand the city’s event calendar throughout the year. A key component of this initiative is the year-round pedestrianization of Sainte-Catherine Street East.

Moreover, Projet Montréal intends to enhance parking solutions by optimizing existing spaces to better serve businesses and customers.
