Former Vancouver Canuck Willie Mitchell Accused of Sexual Assault in 2022, Woman Claims

A woman has recently brought a legal case against former NHL player Willie Mitchell and a resort in Tofino, British Columbia, accusing him of sexual assault while she was in a severely intoxicated state.

According to the civil claim filed in the British Columbia Supreme Court, the plaintiff, who remains anonymous in the lawsuit, was working as a server at Tofino Resort + Marina Inc. in September 2022. The incident allegedly occurred during a fishing tournament hosted by the resort. After her shift, she went to a nearby pub, where she consumed alcohol and later experienced memory lapses due to intoxication.

The lawsuit details that Mitchell supposedly escorted the woman from the pub, where she was described as being visibly impaired and missing a shoe. He then took her to his residence, where the woman claims he engaged in sexual activity without her clear consent.

It is important to note that the claims made in the lawsuit have not yet been validated in court, and responses from Mitchell and the resort are pending. Requests for comments from resort officials have so far gone unanswered. The lawsuit mentions that Mitchell was a director at the resort until February 2023.
