North Shore Rescue’s helicopter, named Talon, swiftly responded to a hiker in distress near Mount Seymour due to an allergic reaction, according to search manager Dave Barnett. The incident occurred on Dog Mountain trail, prompting a call to NSR around noon for assistance.
“District of North Van Fire was on site with the patient and sought our help to transport her out, considering the potential seriousness of a nut allergy,” Barnett explained.
The hiker was airlifted to the Mount Seymour parking lot, where she was then transferred to a BC Ambulance for further medical care.
With the pleasant weather attracting more outdoor enthusiasts, Barnett noted that NSR might have a bustling day ahead. “It’s a beautiful sunny day, and everyone wants to get out, so these afternoons tend to keep us active,” he shared.
Efforts to obtain updates on the rescued hiker’s condition from BC Emergency Health Services are currently underway.
