“Terrifying Encounter: Grizzly Bear Ambushes Hikers Near Prince George”

After a grizzly bear attack on two hikers in McGregor Mountain area, northeast of Prince George, British Columbia’s Conservation Officer Service has announced the temporary closure of trails in the region. The incident occurred on a Saturday, as reported on the service’s social media platform.

The service’s Problem Animal Team Specialists are currently investigating the attack, and as a precautionary measure, they advise hikers to cancel any planned excursions in the Pass Lake area. The closure of the trails will remain in effect until the investigation is completed. Unfortunately, no updates on the hikers’ conditions were provided, and the service has not responded to interview requests yet.

Recent data from the B.C. government website reveals that conservation officers have received 400 reports of grizzly bear conflicts between January and August. Out of these, officers responded to 81 incidents, leading to the euthanization of 15 bears. Data for September and October is pending publication on the provincial website.
