Longueuil Police Receive Leads on Baby Abandoned on Doorstep
Longueuil police have reported an influx of tips after the release of surveillance footage depicting the abandonment of a newborn baby on a doorstep over the weekend. More than 30 pieces of information have been provided, and investigators are diligently examining each one for verification.
The infant, a baby boy born prematurely at around 34 weeks with his umbilical cord still attached, was discovered late Sunday night after a mysterious individual rang the doorbell of a home in the Vieux-Longueuil neighborhood and left the child outside. Prompt action was taken when the resident contacted emergency services, leading to the baby being transported to a hospital and deemed to be in stable condition.
Despite ongoing efforts, authorities have not yet succeeded in locating the parents of the abandoned baby. The investigation is ongoing with the aim of identifying the individuals responsible for this concerning act. Surveillance footage released by the police shows a figure carrying what appears to be the infant, walking along a driveway. While the person’s identity, age, and gender remain unconfirmed, investigators believe they could hold key information as a potential witness or individual linked to the case.
Longueuil police are urging anyone with relevant information to reach out to them at 450-463-7211 to assist in the investigation.
