Suspect in Surrey bank robbery arrested

A man is in custody after an alleged bank robbery in Surrey Monday afternoon.

The Surrey Police Service says it responded to reports of a robbery in progress at the CIBC bank location on King George Boulevard near 72 Avenue around 4 p.m.

Police say the suspect had left the building on foot by the time officers arrived.

They tracked the suspect to 70B Avenue and 134 Street and arrested a man there “without incident.”

The SPS say it also recovered potential evidence.

The suspect reportedly remains in custody, awaiting potential criminal charges.
