A fire broke out at what Surrey Fire Services says is a vacant home Saturday morning.
Assistant Operations Chief Geoff McIntyre says crews were called to the home, located north of the Gateway station near 132nd and 112th, shortly before 7 a.m.
“Firefighters arrived to find a single-family detached home involved in fire, smoke visible on arrival,” McIntyre said.
“Crews worked quickly to control the fire and mitigate damage to any exposures.”
McIntyre says a total of 16 firefighters and four apparatus were sent to the scene.
The cause of the fire is unclear and will be investigated.
One caller to 1130 NewsRadio reported seeing significant smoke in the area.
No injuries have been reported.
More to come.
