A BC Ferries vessel is being held at Duke Point terminal in Nanaimo as crews investigate a fire in the galley, a spokesperson tells 1130 NewsRadio.
As of 4:30 p.m., the company’s current conditions listing shows the status of the 3:15 p.m. sailing of the Coastal Inspiration as, “We are helping emergency services with a situation.”
The ship services the Duke Point (Nanaimo) to Vancouver (Tsawwassen) route.

“We are working to fix this and will keep you informed as more information becomes available,” BC Ferries said in a service notice.
“As soon as the problem is resolved, the vessel will resume service.”
The spokesperson says an update is coming soon.
