Habs-solutely electric: fans pack downtown Montreal ahead of Game 3

The atmosphere outside the Bell Centre is Habs-solutely crazy as fans flood downtown Montreal ahead of Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Stanley Cup playoff series between the Montreal Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning.

By early evening, streets around the arena were packed shoulder-to-shoulder with jerseys, flags, and fans already in full playoff mode, turning the area into a sea of red, white and blue.

The buzz is being fuelled by a full slate of pregame activations set up right outside the arena.

At Canadiens Plaza, the Fan Jam has transformed the space into an open-air party, running right up until puck drop. Fans are taking in live entertainment, food and interactive activations, while others gather simply to soak in the playoff energy building just steps from the rink.

Just nearby, the official Watch Party – Street Edition is also in full swing on Avenue des Canadiens, where a large screen allows fans without tickets to still be part of the action. The event is reserved for those who secured passes in advance and has already reached capacity.

Together, the two spaces have turned downtown into one massive pregame gathering point, with thousands converging ahead of puck drop.

Inside and outside the Bell Centre, anticipation is building for what promises to be another intense chapter in a tightly contested series, which enters Game 3 tied 1-1 after two overtime battles in Tampa.

For fans who have travelled from across the country—and for locals who have made their way downtown early—the message is the same: there’s no better place to be right now than right here in Montreal, on a playoff night.
