Provincial officials are expected to provide an update on a major infrastructure project connecting the Lower Mainland Friday.
Premier David Eby and Transportation Minister Mike Farnworth will appear at the future site of the Willowbrook SkyTrain Station in Langley at 10 a.m.
The leaders, joined by federal MP Randeep Sarai, will “celebrate a progress milestone for the Surrey-Langley SkyTrain project.”
The SkyTrain expansion, approved in 2022, will extend the Expo Line 16 kilometres from King George Station in Surrey to 203 Street in the City of Langley, with eight stations and three transit exchanges.
In August 2024, the province announced it would take a year longer and cost $2 billion more than initially estimated — for a total just under $6 billion.
The current anticipated in-service date is “late 2029.”
