Driver targets and hits two pedestrians in Saint-Honoré before fleeing

A man deliberately drove his vehicle into two pedestrians before fleeing early Saturday morning in the town of Saint-Honoré, in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region.

Police are treating the incident as an armed assault, and an investigation is underway.

The incident occurred around 4 a.m. on l’Aéroport Street. Witnesses interviewed by police said they saw the vehicle strike a first man, then turn around to target a second man, whom it “narrowly missed,” explained Sergeant Audrey-Anne Bilodeau.

The pedestrians, two young men aged 18 and 28, sustained injuries that are not life-threatening.

The driver was quickly located by police thanks to information provided by the victims; he was arrested for hit-and-run resulting in injury and armed assault, with the vehicle serving as the weapon.

“The investigation has been assigned to the Major Crimes Unit. A crime scene reconstruction specialist has been dispatched to the scene,” added Bilodeau.
