Travellers going to some Southern Gulf Islands on Saturday may be faced with cancellations.
BC Ferries announced that, “due to a mechanical difficulty with a vessel’s fire suppression system,” it has called off multiple sailings for the day.
The ferry operator says that its engineers are working on the issue.
It will provide an update if further cancellations are necessary on Sunday.
The affected routes are Village Bay – Lyall Harbour – Otter Bay – Swartz Bay, Village Bay – Otter Bay – Sturdies Bay – Tsawwassen, and Sturdies Bay – Village Bay – Long Harbour.
BC Ferries says that it has implemented the following revised schedules on Saturday for each route.
Village Bay with destination to Swartz Bay
Village Bay with destination to Tsawwassen
Sturdies Bay with destination to Long Harbour
