The Lower Mainland’s Integrated Homicide Investigative Team (IHIT) is looking into the suspicious death of a young woman in Langley this weekend.
IHIT says the Langley RCMP was called to a home on 87 Avenue near 208 Street around 3 p.m. Saturday, when officers discovered the body of a 24-year-old woman.
Mounties arrested a 29-year-old man at the time, but he has since been released without charges.
“The woman and the man were in a relationship, and IHIT investigators are examining the evidence to determine whether criminality is a factor,” said a police statement Monday, adding that the BC Coroners Service is helping.
Sgt. Freda Fong says IHIT believes it was an isolated incident.
“We are working to establish a timeline and the circumstances leading up to the woman’s death. IHIT would like to offer our condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of the woman.”
Anyone with information about the death is asked to contact investigators at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
IHIT is scheduled to hold a media event about its investigation at around 1:30 pm.
