Montreal drivers can expect to see some delays while on the roads starting Tuesday and lasting through the weekend, according to Transport Quebec.
The road closures will start at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, with a complete shutdown of Highway 25 toward the South Shore between exit 6 — Beaubien Street, Yves-Prévost Blvd. — and the entrance from Sherbrooke Street. This will last until 5 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13.
Additionally, the ramp leading from Highway 40 westbound to Highway 25 toward the South Shore will be closed during the same time frame.
This closure will be in place to allow for paving work to be conducted.
Later in the week, Highway 25 toward the South Shore (including the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel) between exit 5 — Route 138, Hochelaga Street, Sherbrooke Street — and the entrance from Île Charron will be closed from 11 p.m. on Friday, May 15 until 9 a.m. on Saturday.
Also on Friday, Highway 25 toward Montreal (including the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel) between exit 90 — Highway 20 West, Route 132, La Prairie, USA, Varennes, P.-E.-Trudeau airport — and the entrance from Yves-Prévost Boulevard will be closed from 10 p.m. until 9 a.m. on May 16.
The entrance ramps from Sherbrooke Street and Notre-Dame Street will close half an hour earlier.
The closure is to allow for maintenance work to be carried out on the tunnel’s electrical and communication systems, as well as to continue concreting the roadway of Highway 25 northbound.
Lastly, eastbound Souligny Avenue will be closed between Dickson and Honoré-Beaugrand streets between 10:30 p.m. on Friday, May 15, and 5 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19.
This closure will include the on-ramps from Souligny Avenue eastbound to Highway 25 and there will be a marked detour will be set up via Notre-Dame and Hochelaga streets.
This will be in place to allow for corrective work on the roadway of the ramp leading from Souligny Avenue eastbound to Highway 25 northbound.
Transport Quebec is reminding all drivers to check Québec 511 before hitting the roads. Additionally, the work may be postponed due to adverse weather conditions.
