One person is in serious condition, and a West End Vancouver street is closed Friday morning after a crash involving a police vehicle.
Callers to 1130 NewsRadio first reported the incident shortly before 6 a.m.
Details are limited, but the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) confirms that Comox Street is closed to all traffic between Bute and Thurlow streets as investigators “gather details.”
BC Emergency Health Services says paramedics treated one person who needed transportation to a waiting air ambulance.
The patient was then taken to hospital in “serious condition.”
Images show a badly damaged VPD cruiser next to another vehicle crashed onto its side.
Others show police barricades and damage to surrounding fences and plants.
1130 NewsRadio has reached out to the department for more information.
As of Friday around 9 a.m., the Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of B.C. said it had not yet been notified of the incident.
This is a developing story. More to come.
