Driver fighting for life after crashing into Montreal business terrace

A 59-year-old driver is fighting for his life after crashing into the terrace of a business overnight in Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough.

Montreal police say officers were called around 2:30 a.m. Friday to the scene on Sherbrooke Street West near Harvard Avenue after a vehicle slammed into a commercial terrace.

The driver was given CPR at the scene before being transported to hospital in critical condition.

SPVM spokesperson Manuel Couture said that they currently “fear for his life.”

According to preliminary information from police, the driver was travelling westbound on Sherbrooke Street when the vehicle allegedly veered off course and struck the terrace.

Collision investigators were called to the scene to analyze what may have caused the vehicle to change direction.

Police say speed and alcohol do not appear to have been factors in the crash at this stage of the investigation.
