Teen injured in overnight shooting in Montreal’s St-Laurent

Montreal police are investigating after a 17-year-old was wounded in a shooting late Sunday evening in the city’s St-Laurent borough.

Authorities say several 911 calls reporting gunshots near Bourgoin and Hufford streets came in shortly after 11 p.m. Responding officers located the teenager outside with a gunshot injury to his lower body.

The victim was taken to hospital conscious and is expected to survive, despite sustaining serious injuries.

According to early findings, at least one suspect allegedly fired at the teen before escaping by car prior to police arrival.

Investigators secured the area overnight while forensic technicians gathered evidence. A police dog unit was brought in to assist with the search, and officers are also examining surveillance footage from nearby cameras.

No suspects have been arrested so far. The investigation is continuing.
