Two investigations into sexually related offences that led to charges against 22-year-old Brodie Mollin have resulted in convictions.
On April 19, 2025, at about 6 p.m., a woman shopping in the Langford Michael’s store was followed by a man exposing his genitals while recording her with his phone.
Police quickly located and arrested Mollin after the report was made.
In July of last year, Mollin pleaded guilty to an indecent act in a public space. He was sentenced on May 12 to 90 days in jail.
On Sept. 15, 2025, a girl was playing in the yard at Eagle View Elementary, located at 97 Talcott Road, when she was approached by an unknown man. The man exposed himself to the girl and touched her in a sexual manner.
On Sept. 17, 2025, West Shore RCMP arrested Mollin who remained in custody until trial. On Oct. 30, 2025, Mollin pleaded guilty to sexual interference of a person under 16 and exposing genitals to a person under 16.
Mollin was sentenced on May 12 to a total of 600 days imprisonment or 20 months. He was credited 356 days for pre-sentence custody. This sentence is to be served consecutively with the 90 days for the previous charge.
“From the outset of this investigation, the West Shore RCMP worked hard to identify and apprehend the suspect as quickly as possible,” said Sgt. Kevin Shaw of the West Shore RCMP Serious Crime Unit. “This was a coordinated investigation led by the Special Victims Unit, with the deployment and support of the Serious Crime Unit, Investigative Support Team, and frontline officers.”
Following the prison sentence, Mollin will be subject to a three-year probation order, which includes various protective conditions, including prohibiting contact with persons under the age of 16.
“The collaborative efforts of all involved ensured a thorough and victim-centred investigation, while prioritizing community safety and support for those impacted. Their dedication and professionalism helped bring this matter before the courts and hold the offender accountable.”
The court also imposed a 10-year sexual offence order which prevents Mollin from attending places where children may reasonably be expected to be present, such as public parks, swimming areas, daycare centres, school grounds, and community centres.
In addition, he has been handed a 10-year firearms prohibition, 20 years on the National Sex Offender Registry and submit a DNA sample to be on file.
