Former comedy mogul Gilbert Rozon will pay $930,000 to the nine plaintiffs and thus waive his right to appeal, says a press release released Wednesday by Trudel Johnston & Lespérance.
This agreement reached between the two parties comes after the decision rendered by the Honourable Chantal Tremblay on March 31. This decision recognized that Gilbert Rozon had sexually assaulted eight women and ordered him to pay a total of $880,000 to the complainants.
Superior Court Justice Chantal Tremblay ruled in a 447-page decision that “the Tribunal’s conclusions in this case, having regard to the eight actions accepted and the accounts of the seven witnesses of similar facts, support the assertion (…) that Mr. Rozon’s behaviour falls within the definition of a ‘sexual predator’”.

Justice Tremblay also rendered a second judgment, this time of 150 pages, in which she ruled that the articles of the Quebec Civil Code that aim to prevent the use of myths and stereotypes in the defence of sexual assault cases and to remove the limitation period for such events are constitutional.
In the settlement agreement reached on Wednesday, it is stated that the “Defendant undertakes to pay to the Plaintiffs the sum of $880,780, representing the capital amount of the Judgments, before the expiry of the applicable appeal period.”
It is also indicated that Rozon is committing an additional $50,000 to the “Courageuses” by June 18, 2026, at the latest.
