Shots were fired late Sunday evening in Montreal’s Griffintown district.
The Montreal Police Service (SPVM) says officers were alerted around 11 p.m. after reports of gunshots heard on Young Street near William Street.
When police arrived at the scene, they did not locate any victims or suspects. However, shell casings were found on the ground.
Investigators, assisted by forensic identification technicians, remained on scene overnight to analyze evidence and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The SPVM canine unit was also deployed to assist in the search for additional evidence, while witnesses were interviewed by police.
Investigators are expected to review surveillance camera footage from the area that may have captured the shooting.
No arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified.
The investigation remains ongoing.
