Muslim forum calls for investigation after reported threats following Eid gathering in Trois-Rivières

The Canadian Muslim Forum (FMC-CMF) is calling for an investigation after it says members of the Muslim community in Trois-Rivières were targeted by violent threats and hateful rhetoric following a private Eid Al-Adha prayer gathering.

The organization says the gathering itself was peaceful and lawful, but that some of the subsequent online reactions included references to past acts of violence in Quebec and threats directed at Muslim residents. It is urging law enforcement to take the reports seriously.

The FMC-CMF described the situation as an example of ongoing concerns about anti-Muslim sentiment and called for stronger action against hate speech and intimidation.

The group also acknowledged local voices calling for calm and is urging elected officials and community leaders to condemn all forms of hate and extremism.

No injuries or physical incidents were reported in connection with the gathering.
