The Squamish RCMP is currently near Browning Lake at Murrin Provincial Park, searching for two people who “failed to resurface” after falling off their paddleboards on the lake.
The incident occurred shortly before 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Mounties say that they closed the park to conduct their investigation.
“Squamish RCMP Members are currently on scene and are being assisted in the search for these individuals by RCMP Air Services, Squamish Search and Rescue, Squamish Fire Rescue and Park Rangers,” said Cpl. Katrina Boehmer of the Sea to Sky RCMP Detachment in a written statement.
The police presence along Highway 99 caused heavy delays, especially on southbound lanes.
