The first confirmed tornado of 2026 in Quebec touched down in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region last month, according to the Northern Tornadoes Project at Western University.
The EF0 tornado struck near Saint-Thomas-Didyme at approximately 6:13 p.m. on May 25. Researchers estimate the twister produced winds of up to 100 km/h and travelled about 750 metres.
Minor damage was reported, including torn roof shingles, a broken tree and an overturned trailer. No injuries were reported.
The tornado is the first officially documented in Quebec this year.
