Vancouver artists collaborate on song inspired by FIFA World Cup

Two local artists have recently joined forces on a new track called The Goal, saying they were inspired by the FIFA World Cup coming to Vancouver.

Songwriter-producer Sean Thomas says the piece represents a theme of togetherness.

“This one was a really fun one to write,” Thomas said.

“It started at the top of this year with all the buzz of FIFA coming into town. I was really inspired. I just wanted to write something super uplifting and inspiring. “

The singer is Elizabeth Irving, whom hockey fans may recognize as the anthem singer for the Canucks.

Irving says this piece comes not only during an exciting time for sports, but during a big time for the world.

“This song can again be an anthem and can be something that you turn to when you’re going through something, to kind of remind you that hey, you’re not alone, and there are people who can walk hand in hand with you,” she said.
