Man sustains lower body injury after dog attack in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve

A 41-year-old man suffered a lower body injury after being attacked by a large dog in the middle of the street late Friday morning in Montreal’s Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear as authorities continue their investigation.

According to information obtained at the scene, the victim suffered an injury to his lower body during the attack and lost a significant amount of blood. Emergency responders transported him to hospital, where he was treated.

Authorities said the man’s life is not in danger.

Following the attack, the dog reportedly fled the area. Police officers searched the neighbourhood during the afternoon in an effort to locate the animal. Investigators were also seeking the dog’s owner.

The case has been referred to the City of Montreal’s animal services division, which will take over the investigation.
