Montreal to see hot start to weekend before rain moves in

Montreal is heading into the weekend with a mix of summer heat, sunshine and the chance of thunderstorms before wetter conditions move in by Sunday.

Environment Canada is forecasting a mix of sun and cloud for Friday, with skies becoming cloudier through the afternoon. A few showers are expected, along with the risk of thunderstorms late in the day.

Temperatures are set to reach 31 Celsius, with the humidex making it feel closer to 39 C.

A few showers could linger into the evening before skies clear overnight. There remains a risk of thunderstorms Friday evening, while southwest winds could gust as high as 60 km/h before easing. The overnight low is expected to be 18 C.

The weekend will begin on a bright note, with sunny skies forecast for Saturday and a high of 28 C. Humidity will make it feel closer to 30 C.

Conditions are expected to change on Sunday, with periods of rain throughout the day and into the evening. Despite the wet weather, temperatures are forecast to remain warm, reaching 28 C.

Looking ahead to next week, Monday is expected to bring a mix of sun and cloud with a cooler high of 21 C.

Sunshine returns Tuesday with a high of 24 C, while cloudier conditions and the chance of showers are in the forecast for Wednesday. More rain is expected Thursday, with daytime temperatures remaining in the mid-20s.
