A car drove towards pedestrians near Angrignon Park where a party was taking place Saturday night, prompting officers to intervene after gunshots were reported and leading to one arrest.
Police were called to the vicinity of Angrignon Park, on Trinitaires Boulevard, in the LaSalle borough, after a 911 call around 9:00 p.m., where gunshots had been heard.
Upon their arrival, the police attempted to intercept a suspicious vehicle when events unfolded rapidly.
“Police officers who were near the park attempted to intercept a suspicious vehicle that was driving dangerously close to people heading towards Angrignon Park for a party that was taking place there. At the time of the interception, the suspicious vehicle reportedly drove towards the police officers,” said Constable Raphaël Bergeron, spokesperson for the Montreal Police Service (SPVM).
“Subsequently, a gunshot was heard. At that moment, the police opened fire in the direction of the suspect vehicle,” he specified.
No injuries have been reported on either side.
One person was arrested and two others were being sought.
“The vehicle came to a stop. One man was arrested and two other people who were on board the vehicle managed to flee on foot,” said the SPVM spokesperson.
Searches were conducted in the park, but they were not found.
The arrested man was taken to a detention center and was to be interviewed by SPVM investigators in the coming hours.
The investigation by SPVM is ongoing.
