Port Moody Police were called out to the scene of a three-car collision on Tuesday night.
At about 7:15 p.m., officers and first responders were called to Ioco Road and Dowding Road.
It is believed that the driver of a pick-up truck veered into the oncoming lanes and struck two vehicles, police say.
The pick-up truck ended off the road and ran into a utility pole.
The 41-year-old man, from Maple Ridge, driving the pick-up truck was detained after allegedly failing a roadside alcohol screening test, say police.
“He was brought back to the police station for additional testing.,” said Cst. Sam Zacharias of the Port Moody Police.
The man faces criminal charges as a result.
The man is also a prohibited driver, province wide, so he faces additional charges for that.
“Also, noteworthy that he did have a child in the in the rear seat there. It’s fortunate that the injuries reported were minor because it certainly could have been a far worse outcome,” said Zacharias.
The child was in a car seat in the back seat of the truck.
