The Surrey Police Service (SPS) says two men have been arrested and charged following an investigation into a shooting in the City Centre neighbourhood on June 11.
SPS officers were called to a home near 96 Avenue and 133A Street shortly after reports of shots being fired around 5:30 a.m.
“Our officers arrived and found evidence of gunfire that damaged the exterior of a residence,” Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton told 1130 NewsRadio.
“That residence was occupied at the time. Fortunately, there were no injuries.”
An initial investigation by SPS’s Major Crime Section determined the incident was related to extortion, police say.
“Very quickly, two suspects and associated residences were identified,” Houghton said.
“The search warrant was executed the next day, on June 12, with help from the Lower Mainland District Emergency Response Team, as well as Canada Border Services Agency.”

Four men, all foreign nationals, were arrested, he says.
Two of those men — 21-year-old Arman Singh and 22-year-old Simarjeet Singh — have each been charged with one count of reckless discharge of a firearm.
The SPS has released the suspects’ photos to advance the investigation.
“The hope is that the public will see the images of both Arman Singh and Sumarjeet Singh and they’ll recognize them and hopefully reach out to police,” Houghton said.
“We’re still very interested in gathering information on their whereabouts, who they were associating with.”
He says police are confident the men were not acting alone.
“We need people to come forward, so that we can construct the timeline leading up to the June 11 incident and hopefully identify additional suspects as well.”
Both men remain in custody. Houghton says their next court date is June 29.
He says that so far, there have been no payouts from the $250,000 Surrey Extortion Reward Fund, which was established in September 2025.
“The reward works after there are convictions and sentences,” he said. “We’ve had only a couple so far, but those were not reward-related.”
As of Monday, there have been 128 reported extortions and 20 related shots-fired incidents in Surrey, Houghton says.
Most of these took place in January.
“We have seen a flattening or a downward trend in some of those incidents,” he said. “January started off very quickly.”
“The shootings, thankfully, have slowed down significantly, where we’ve only had one or two a month since January.”
Anyone with information relevant to this investigation is asked to call SPS’s non-emergency number at 604-599-0502, the Surrey Extortion Tip Line at 236-485-5149, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
