The trial of a father accused of the tragic death of his nine-year-old daughter during a New York trip last summer is now in its fourth week.
Luciano Frattolin, a 46-year-old Montreal resident, is currently facing charges of second-degree murder and concealment of a human corpse in the case of his daughter, Melina Frattolin.
Frattolin has maintained his innocence since his arrest in July 2025 and has been in custody without bail. The prosecution presented a compelling five-hour video last week, reconstructing the possible route Frattolin took before reporting Melina missing.
The defense introduced its first witness on Friday, raising questions about whether Frattolin will testify in his own defense.
Melina’s body was discovered in a rural New York marsh, and a subsequent autopsy determined her cause of death as drowning.
