The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) says it has been called in after a fatal altercation at a home in West Vancouver.
West Vancouver Police Department (WVPD) officers were called to the home, which is located in the Squamish Nation village of X_wemelch’stn, shortly after midnight June 24, IHIT says.
“Upon arrival, police located a 43-year-old man who was pronounced deceased at the scene,” IHIT said in a news release.
“A 35-year-old man was subsequently arrested in Vancouver in relation to the incident.”
It appears the altercation stemmed from a dispute between the victim and the suspect, who are related, the release says.
“Due to the swift response by the WVPD frontline officers, the scene was quickly made safe and secured for further investigation,” said IHIT Sgt. Freda Fong.
“Our thoughts remain with the victim’s loved ones and the community as this investigation progresses.”
