The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC has finished its investigation into a collision that occurred in January 2025 in Victoria.
On Jan. 12, 2025, around 2 a.m., Victoria Police Department reported observing a grey sedan driving on the wrong side of the road.
The police attempted to pull the car over, but it did not stop.
The car was then involved in a single-car collision on the west side of the Johnson Street Bridge, near the Vic West Skatepark on Esquimalt Road.
Two people in the car were injured because of the collision.
The IIO was informed of the incident shortly after it occurred and started an investigation.
Evidence was collected by the IIO investigators, such as medical records, video footage, and witness accounts.
The chief civilian director has determined that there are no reasonable grounds to believe an officer may have committed an offence in their conduct during this event.
