One person died, and another was seriously injured after a collision that occurred Saturday morning in Ripon, in the Outaouais region.
Emergency services were called to the area of Route 317 around 11 a.m. The collision involved two vehicles.
“An investigation is underway to determine the causes and circumstances surrounding this event,” said Sûreté du Québec spokesman Frédéric Deshaies. Speeding and reckless driving are elements that are part of the investigation.”
Deshaies said that one of the drivers, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries. He is a man in his forties from Gatineau.
Route 317 was closed in both directions and a detour was set up by a local network.
