The Langley RCMP says a targeted traffic enforcement blitz aimed at improving road safety over the weekend resulted in 48 traffic violation tickets being issued.
Of the dozens of tickets issued, 39 drivers were ticketed for driving more than 20 km/h over the posted speed limit, police say, and five excessive speeders had their vehicles impounded for seven days.
“Speeding continues to be one of the leading contributing factors in serious and fatal collisions,” said Const. Meghan Marsden.
“Our officers will continue to conduct targeted enforcement in areas where dangerous driving behaviours are reported to help keep everyone on our roads safe.”
Mounties say they focused on areas where high numbers of speed complaints and collisions take place. These areas included 56 Avenue, 208 Street, and 16 Avenue.
